British or american, ?

Honestly, I can't tell the difference. Both versions sound great, but how could they not? They're almost identical to each other. The voices may have a slight difference but other than that, they sound the same. The Script are an amazing band and Kris Allen has a great voice. Kudos to both, The Script for writing a great song, and Kris Allen for making it popular. It was originally a bonus track and was not going to be released as a single, so I doubt as many people would've heard it.
