Brand new Dyson animal hoover has no suction at all.?

I just bought a new dyson hoover, and after setting it up and trying to hoover my mat, I realised it wasn't sucking anything up, so I set the hoover upright and all the suction comes out of the hole at the top, so I used the hose and it worked perfectly, but when I bring the hoover back so I can hoover the ground by pushing the hoover, it just does not suck up anything, it makes a normal hoover noise and anything seems normal except the brush doesn't turn around and theres no suction!
