Is it true that McDonald's Fries are Synthesized in a Lab?

I herd that you can make McDoanld's french fries by titrating sodium hydroxide with hydrochloric acid and then adding some organic compound, I forget what it was...hexane or hexanol I think. Is this true? Forgive me but I haven't done chemistry since I did my undergraduate degree back in the late 70's.
