Why are breeders romanticised so much?

I don't agree(sorry). Please try to see it my way. I enjoy shelter dogs. They're great. Still, it's good to have a reputable breeder. In shelters they can't always be sure if there were genetics that were bad ped down to the dogs. WIth breeders you can be sure. Also, you don't know if there may be something that scares a shelter dog that you are unaware of. This is less likely with a good breeder. See my point?
