Is Production Support a good Career Choice?

I entered into IT industry as a s/w tester after graduating as a Computer Engineer.After just 3 months moved to production support.But now i am a little bit confused.Is production Support a good career choice at entry level?What is the scope and possibilities of growth in this line.Are there ample opportunities for overseas travel or i'll just be confined at some place.I am working for the Financial Domain currently(loan Management).Please guide.
