Help me? Question about moles, already been to GP.?

I have about 5-8 moles on my hips (1 on one side and then loads all gathered on the other) I went to my GP and she said it was something starting it was either melanoma or something that sounded like that. I just searched what the word meant and it has seriously freaked me out. These moles are popping up weekly and it's really starting to get me down. My GP said that they would come out further from the skin then they will scab over and go after about 6 months. I have had one for about 2 years and it raised up more, scabbed but then it just went back to normal again. I really want to get them removed, as a 15 year old girl it's difficult enough let alone being self conscious about these. My GP said that it isn't contagious and took a microscope to one and said that it was raised on the outside, it was red on the outside but a darker red/brown on the middle. It's really starting to worry me. Any idea what it could be and could i get them removed?
