Atmosphere question regarding aerosols?

The answer is D). In fact, volcanic aerosols do reach the stratosphere, that's why large volcanic eruptions can affect climate for one or two years. Aerosols in the troposphere (the lowest level of the atmosphere) are "washed out" fairly quickly by rain, but since there's no rain in the stratosphere, the aerosols will stay there until they eventually settle out.
